Reliance Jio is likely to launch an affordable 5G-enabled phone, as rumors and initial appearances on social media claim it to be coming into the limelight around Diwali or at the Annual General Meeting of the company later this month.
As per rumors, the service provider is tipped to launch the first-ever Jio 5G-enabled phone around the Diwali festival or the company’s Annual General Meeting, which is going to be held on 28th August at 2 PM.
In the past, this meeting has revealed big projects and releases from the company. However, much before the expected release, the pictures of the phone have been doing rounds on social media after being shared by a user on the micro-blogging website, Twitter.
Reliance Jio, which has a history of providing affordable data and phones in the market, has a base of over 400 million subscribers. Continuing with its trend, the expected price of the 5G phone in India is to be as less as Rs 10, 990. Currently, there are no 5G-compatible phones under Rs 10,000 in the market. The recently launched Redmi 12 5G’s base variant costs Rs. 10,999.
The phone is expected to have two cameras at the back, a 13MP rear camera and a 2MP auxiliary snapper, and an 8MP selfie camera. Coming with a 5000 mAh battery with 18W charging support through a USB-C port, it will feature a Qualcomm chip with 4GB RAM and 32GB ROM which can also be extended up to 512GB.
As per rumors, it will have a 6.5 inches LCD display with HD+ resolution with an operating system reported to be Android 11 with a Jio plug-in “digital suite”. It will also come with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
Furthermore, Reliance is also planning to announce the new plans for its 5G services at the end of this month. Jio has already been providing complimentary 5G services to some of its users through the “Jio Welcome Offer”.
A report claimed this comes in the backdrop of Jio’s expanding 5G coverage in 13 major cities of India, who’ll be moved out of freebies to paid plans to enjoy blazing-fast 5G services.
