The Indian smart TV market is undergoing a profound transformation driven by techflation, with consumers now prioritizing speed and fluidity as much as display quality. Techarc’s latest comprehensive benchmarking study of 24 brands and 51 models running official Google-licensed Android 14 Google TV crowns Lumio Vision as the undisputed fastest performer across all key responsiveness metrics.

In 2025, the Smart TV sector achieved estimated sales of 11.5-12.5 million units, setting the stage for projected growth to 12-13 million in 2026 as high-performance hardware becomes the primary differentiator. Lumio’s leadership in real-world tests, covering boot-up time, OTT app loading, app installation, and UI navigation, validates its positioning in the market.

Rigorous Testing Framework Highlights Lumio’s Edge

Techarc’s report focused exclusively on verified official Google Smart TVs running on Android 14, excluding slower Google Certified variants with outdated app-first UIs. Tests measured boot-up from power-on to interactive readiness, Netflix launch times (a heavyweight OTT benchmark), Plex app installation (one of the heaviest downloads), and scrolling speed through system menus.

The Lumio Leadership: achieving a swift 32-second boot-up, below all the other 23-brand averages, 12-second Netflix launch, outpacing all competitors, 29-second Plex install, the fastest recorded, and a superior scrolling speed of 14 seconds, delivering unmatched navigational smoothness.

Additional evaluations confirmed its performance, achieving 86 Mbps connection speeds with zero frame drops during 4K HDR YouTube playback on 50–100 Mbps networks, outperforming the group average of 60.6 Mbps.

Further testing shows 86 Mbps speeds with zero frame drops in 4K HDR playback, beating the group average of 60.6 Mbps.

These results underscore Android 14’s advancements in memory management, AI personalization, and content-first layouts, which Lumio leverages better than rivals through optimized hardware-software integration.

Market Implications for Brands and Consumers

Lumio’s leadership signals a strategic shift: in India’s burgeoning smart TV ecosystem, raw specifications alone no longer suffice, superior Android 14 optimization is the new battleground for user loyalty and premium pricing. Brands trailing in boot-up and app responsiveness risk market share erosion, especially as software ecosystems like Google Assistant, Chromecast, and multi-profile support deepen user lock-in.

Consumers benefit directly: the Vision series offers flagship-level fluidity at accessible price points, addressing frustrations with sluggish UIs that plague lesser models.

Outlook: Responsiveness as the Next Frontier

As Android 14 rolls out smarter features like unified recommendations and enhanced Chromecast, Techarc anticipates a widening performance chasm, rewarding leaders like Lumio while pressuring laggards.
